Ford confirmed today it is building a hardcore off-roading Raptor variant of its new Ranger small truck for 2018. The company's Australian division uploaded a video of a camouflaged Ranger Raptor test mule hitting jumps and flying through the outback to go alongside the announcement. And hoo boy does it look awesome. Ford hasn't revealed any specs or performance figures yet, but based on what we see in this video, it seems the Ranger Raptor will be equipped with a long travel suspension similar to the F-150 Raptor's , as well as big, wide fender flares and larger, more aggressive tires, likely BF Goodrich All-TerrainT/A KO2 tires. The powertrain remains a mystery. According to the video, the Ranger Raptor will debut in production guise sometime in 2018. As for whether this particular model will be available in North America, that's still unknown. Ford has announced that the Ranger model will return to the US market in 2019 , but it's unclear whether that means the current Australian/South African model that this Raptor variant is based on, or another model altogether. Most Popular Update : A Ford spokesperson confirmed to R&T that the Ranger Raptor shown here will only be available in Australia and New Zealand. Watch the reveal video for yourself. It has lots of jumps.
